Next year’s EGU General Assembly is approaching and will be held in Vienna and online from April 14 to 19, 2024.
In line with WaX and following our last session the research project Smart-SWS has organized a session at this year’s EGU addressing countermeasures for two of the most visible effects of climate change:
“Approaches and technical perspectives to combine flood protection and drought reduction”
Global climate change causes an increasing frequency and intensity of floods and droughts. Both are strongly linked and have the potential to reinforce each other. Floods and droughts cover the entire hydrological spectrum and share many similarities and links. Successful management of regional water resources requires approaches, tools, and management strategies that combine techniques from flood protection and drought prevention.
Contributions focusing on the whole strategic and operative management of these extremes are welcome. Deadline for abstracts submission is 10th of January 2024.
