Usually, these events are triggered by short-term extreme convective precipitation exceeding the local infiltrationcapacity. Sealed surfaces and the drainage infrastructure facilitate the focused surface runoff leading to floods.<\/p><p>Integral pluvial flood risk management combines quantitative high-resolution hazard and vulnerability analysis, model-based prediction and early warning, targeted risk communication and structural measures. However, the implementation of this concept remains difficult. This is mainly due to the lack of efficient, scalable and transferable tools as well as missing synergies and interfaces between the different components of\u00a0 pluvial flood risk management.<\/p><p>\u201eInno_MAUS\u201c aims for the development, provision and integration of innovative digital tools to manage urban pluvial flood risk. These tools are to be applicable for early warning as well as for planning and precautionary measures. The implementation of the tools will be demonstrated for the cities of W\u00fcrzbug and Berlin.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-6ca1556e elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"6ca1556e\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">Objectives<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-4e189ded elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"4e189ded\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>The project has five sub-goals:<\/p><ol><li>Transparent and open digital interfaces enabling the integration of the pluvial flood risk management<\/li><li>Increasing the reliability to quantify and predict convective heavy precipitation events<\/li><li>Quantification of urban runoff and potential retention areas across spatial scales<\/li><li>Using artificial intelligence to efficiently simulate runoff dynamics<\/li><li>Starkregenspezifische Sch\u00e4den an Geb\u00e4uden und Infrastruktur absch\u00e4tzen.<\/li><\/ol><p>Four working packages develop specific digital instruments to achieve these goals and one working package develops interfaces for integration and coordination. Therefore, AP1 provides and evaluates radar-based near real-time estimations of precipitation. Furthermore, the working package provides 5 minute forecasts with a 60 minute lead time based on deep neural networks.<\/p><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-toggle-item\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div id=\"elementor-tab-title-1923\" class=\"elementor-tab-title\" data-tab=\"3\" role=\"button\" aria-controls=\"elementor-tab-content-1923\" aria-expanded=\"false\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<span class=\"elementor-toggle-icon elementor-toggle-icon-left\" aria-hidden=\"true\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<span class=\"elementor-toggle-icon-closed\"><i class=\"fas fa-caret-right\"><\/i><\/span>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<span class=\"elementor-toggle-icon-opened\"><i class=\"elementor-toggle-icon-opened fas fa-caret-up\"><\/i><\/span>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/span>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<a class=\"elementor-toggle-title\" tabindex=\"0\">WP 2: Runoff and retention in urban areas<\/a>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\n\t\t\t\t\t<div id=\"elementor-tab-content-1923\" class=\"elementor-tab-content elementor-clearfix\" data-tab=\"3\" role=\"region\" aria-labelledby=\"elementor-tab-title-1923\"><p>WP 2 uses and extends urban-hydrological models to quantify and evaluate runoff and retention behavior of urban surfaces (such as sealed areas, gardens, parks, retention reservoirs and decentralised infiltration facilities). In AP3, results of hydrodynamic models are used to train deep neural networks. These can learn to reproduce the results of hydrodynamic models with the help of generally available input data and information derived from them (e.g. digital terrain models, surface classifications, runoff formation).<\/p><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-toggle-item\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div id=\"elementor-tab-title-1925\" class=\"elementor-tab-title\" data-tab=\"5\" role=\"button\" aria-controls=\"elementor-tab-content-1925\" aria-expanded=\"false\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<span class=\"elementor-toggle-icon elementor-toggle-icon-left\" aria-hidden=\"true\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<span class=\"elementor-toggle-icon-closed\"><i class=\"fas fa-caret-right\"><\/i><\/span>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<span class=\"elementor-toggle-icon-opened\"><i class=\"elementor-toggle-icon-opened fas fa-caret-up\"><\/i><\/span>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/span>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<a class=\"elementor-toggle-title\" tabindex=\"0\">WP 4: Impact assessment: damage and exposure modeling<\/a>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\n\t\t\t\t\t<div id=\"elementor-tab-content-1925\" class=\"elementor-tab-content elementor-clearfix\" data-tab=\"5\" role=\"region\" aria-labelledby=\"elementor-tab-title-1925\"><p>Based on the flood heights from AP3, the impacts on the population, the built environment and the urban infrastructure are estimated in AP4.
